Social justice used to mean, talk to our neighbors and treat them as we would want to be treated.
But trying to dialog on a progressive talk show is like trying to wrestle a wild pig in a Texas live trap.
It’s really a shame because if there was a conversation to be had, one that was decent and neighborly maybe there could be true progress made for our society on so-called “sensible gun safety”. But what usually transpires, well always transpires, is screaming and charging the innocent citizen with the crimes committed by reprobates.
It’s basically creepy because the progressive holds themselves in such high, high, high regard as enlightened, academic, morally and socially superior. But responds to any challenge to their actions and beliefs like a historic Norse Berserker or mythical Gaelic Banshee.
Demanding that every gun owner admit that they are responsible for the crimes and actions of the depraved, derelict and depressed, the progressive hands out accusations of complicity and demands admission of guilt from the innocent with the ease of the mob instigator.
Which seems to be the only response given to honest questions by honest gun owners to the frenzied and fanatical gun control proponent. “You don’t care about victims . . ..” they always accuse us.
That sickening and disgusting charge comes out of their mouth as easily as the spit that accompanies the humidity of exhaled lung gases.
Stupidity often replaces ignorance in a fanatic. Maybe even always.
Example you ask? Well Tuesday 8-2-22 @ 5:00PM WCPT Driving It Home with Patti Vazquez Talk Show.
WCPT stands for Chicago’s Progressive Talk. Their slogan is: “Where Facts Matter”. Which is often as ignored as the poor driven out of gentrified Chicago.
Some anti-gun guy called in to the Show and was lunatic-painting a picture of Stand Your Ground adherents. I called the show to ask a question and Patti Vasquez put me and the caller on together to discuss our positions. (A dream come true for me.)
While the caller painted a picture of a home owner assaulting innocent perps with no more thought than taking out the trash, I asked him: when does a victim – the home dweller – during their time being victimized . . . at their home, can and should be able to stop the violence being done to they and their family members. (?)
Now you would think that a “progressive” would want people protected from harm but what ensued in the broken down conversation on air was an unhinged challenge for me to tell the caller where I was in real time so they could visit me and have a go at me. Even wanting a duel at sunrise.
I made it clear to Ms. Vasquez that the caller was really, in voice tone (heated) and substance was threatening me with violence. And did so several times. Falling on deaf ears, Ms. Vasquez gave a pass to the frenzied freak to whom I was talking.
Another unhinged antigun fanatic going to violent ends? Ubiquity on display. (No wonder they kill their unwanted unborn?)
Long story short, as we were heading to 5:30, Ms. Vazquez joined the unhinged parade and accused me of being obstinate in not agreeing to her Gun Control demands and having no feelings for murder victims. Such stupidity from Vasquez demanded silence on my part. Which I provided.
OF COURSE, Vasquez’s taunt had nothing to do with the freak show that caller number one was displayed. But since I did not want to tell Ms. Vasquez to go to hell – as she was the host: eh hem – I remained polite and suffered further insult with being cut off by radio host. (I’m sure you can find the broadcast somewhere to challenge my view,)
Well, I listen to WCPT constantly. And will continue to do so and call in. Which I have been doing for a decade. Only recently with my real first name. Progressives, “Doxx people and like to visit the homes of those that will not comply to their demands. Be careful when angering them. Which is always when kowtow to them and their all powering and all encompassing idol is denied. I mean ideology. No, I mean Cult. Gun Control is a religious Cult with little doubt.
BUT . . . I would rather listen to “the other side” than the talk radio that is hail-fellow-well-met of the like-minded honest. Although progressives display the same hatred for the First Amendment that they do to the 2nd, both still, Progressives deserve to be treated as neighbors. Even if they are nasty ones.
And to be open, I have had several very nice interactions with Ms. Vazquez on her show when I am not disagreeing with her religious demands.
No matter what we think of their positions, and how wrong and anti-freedom they are, they have every right to them. Though they are trying to take away our rights – through misguided intolerance – our republican form of democracy must be foremost in our minds.
We have the exact same rights to try to keep our liberty and freedom from being taken away. THROUGH our republican form of democracy.
I wish deeply that WCPT would allow unfettered dialogue but that may be as much a thing of the past as so many things they have either redefined or made to their religious demands.
But never forget that social justice demands we try to and actually do talk to our neighbors and treat them as we would want to be treated.
It’s an uphill climb but one we can travel if we take the high road.
Maybe, someday, somehow, WCPT “Chicago’s Progressive Talk Radio” will actually live by their motto.
But I won’t hold my breath waiting for that day to come.
“Cuz, right now, “progressive” seems mean: return to the days of Witch Burnings through false accusation and false charge.
